Where We Stand Counseling and Consulting is a multidisciplinary behavioral health care practice that offers mental health and substance abuse services to communities within the metro Atlanta area. Our focus is to provide cost-effective, quality treatment.

Where We Stand provides an array of quality mental health and substance abuse and addiction services to individuals, couples, and families. A multidisciplinary staff provides effective treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, behavioral disorders, post traumatic stress disorders, stress management, substance abuse disorders, and gambling. In addition to promoting the well-being of individuals and families, we also hope to enhance daily living by offering Life Coaching and Academic Enrichment. We feel that by providing an accessible, quality driven service system it will emphasize trust, respect, confidentiality, and compassion.

Our mission is to provide adolescents and teens, aged 12 years through 17 years, with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the serious issues young adults are face today. Some of the issues addressed include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, smoking, bullying, suicide prevention, underage drinking and illicit drug use, impaired and aggressive driving, violence prevention, sexual abuse, dating violence, teen pregnancy, and HIV-STDs.

Marriage & Couples Retreat

Where We Stand Counseling and Consulting hosts a monthly Marriage and Couples Retreat that aids couples in re-establishing healthy patterns for prosperous relationships.

Dr. Monica Gray, Ed.D., LPC completed her masters work in Professional Counseling in 2002 and the Doctoral Counselor Education and Supervision Program through Argosy University in 2013.

 

Currently, Dr. Gray serves as an Adjunct Professor at Point University where she feels an innate responsibility to facilitate personal and professional growth within her students. Concurrently, she has a thriving private practice in Tucker, Georgia and has worked as a Behavioral Health Counselor for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities for the past 17 years.

 

Dr. Gray’s clinical experiences include: behavioral assessment and counseling for individuals with developmental disabilities, individual, emotionally focused couples counseling, adolescent groups, family therapy with adults and children, and psychological testing. She has practiced in community agencies and state regulated sites. She also worked with refugees through the Georgia Coalition of Refugee Mental Health. Thus, her research interests have focused on multicultural issues such counseling refugees with post traumatic stress disorder and providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

 

Dr. Gray holds the following counseling credentials: Licensed Professional Counselor – Georgia, Certified Anger Management Specialist – Georgia and previous Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor.

Dr. Dana A. Griffin, EdD, LPC, CPCS received her Doctor of Education degree in Counselor Education and Supervision November 2013 and her M.A. in Professional Counseling in 2005 from Argosy University, Atlanta. She received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2002.

 

Dr. Griffin has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008 and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor since 2015 in the state of Georgia. She is a Clinical Faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University teaching Diversity, Human Growth & Development, and Professional Ethics. As the owner of Vision Counseling & Consulting, LLC in Conyers, GA, her mission is to walk with clients along their journey, equipping them with the mental, physical, and spiritual tools to achieve wellness both personally and professionally.

 

Dr. Griffin specializes in depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, couples and family, divorce, blended family issues, sexuality, and professional/career development. She also provides supervision to counseling professionals seeking full licensure in the state of Georgia. Her research interests include diversity, violence against the LGBTQ+ in the Caribbean, depression among men of color, the professional development of women in academia, and the wellness of counselors.

Ms. Angela B. Hammond is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Angela has been licensed since 1997 and a Certified Counseling Supervisor since 21012. She graduated from Purdue University where she received a B.A. in elementary and special education. She earned an M.S. in Community Counseling from Chicago State University and has worked in numerous settings. She is currently a counselor at Georgia State University.

Some of Angela’s professional interests include depression, co-dependency, self-esteem issues, adolescents and human trafficking. She believes that you have to know where you’ve been in order to know where you’re going.

Dr. Maurita Hodge, EdD, LPC, NCC, CPCS is a Licensed Counselor/Supervisor at her private practice (Moving Mountains Consulting, LLC), a contractor in the helping field; and, Chair at Point University. She earned by B.A. in Human Relations from Trinity College in Washington, DC, her M.A. in School Counseling from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA and her EdD in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, Sarasota.

Dr. Hodge has held many positions – some she was asked to leave, some she left on her own, and one the Lord had to remove her to prepare her for her assigned task. Prior to entering the Counseling profession, she worked in the legal field at Turner Broadcasting as an Administrative Assistant to attorneys in Property Law and Employment Law.

2004 is the year she entered the counseling field as a School Counselor, first at an alternative school and then an inner-city school here in Atlanta, GA. She also provided in-home counseling services through a children’s shelter to children and parents ordered by the courts.

In 2011 Dr. Hodge resigned from her position as a School Counselor to start her practice – Moving Mountains Consulting, LLC. She also began working with various Behavioral Health agencies and with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) where she facilitated groups (Parenting, Anger Management, etc.), developed programs for school systems, and completed various assessments for families with DFCS and/or legal involvement.

A year later (2012), Dr. Hodge began serving as the Chair for the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at a Christian-based university and teaching on the collegiate level (in class and online). So as of today, she counsels, educates, supervises, assesses, consults and serves on a daily basis.

Not taking advantage of the blessings she continues to receive, she operates from a mindset of utilizing her experience and skills to assist others on their journey to whole and healthy in service to God’s people.

Ms. Sharon Bryant, LAPC, is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. Ms. Bryant received her Master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Georgia in 1988 and completed a Marriage and Family Therapy Certification program in 2011 at Argosy University in Atlanta, GA.

 

Ms. Bryant has over 28 years of experience in the field of mental health, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. Her clinical experiences include individual counseling, family therapy and group counseling. Areas of expertise include mental health diagnosis, substance abuse treatment, developmental disabilities and domestic violence.

 

Ms. Bryant has practiced in a variety of community agencies and state regulated sites working with both adolescence, adults and families.  Ms. Bryant holds the following counseling credentials: Licensed Associate Professional Counselor – Georgia, and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist – Georgia.
